Why We Do This:

ONE in FOUR children in Vermont live with food insecurity. That means they have no guaranteed meals when school is not in session.

How it Works:

Teachers place bags of kid-friendly, nonperishable, vitamin-fortified food from all five food groups discreetly in a child’s backpack.

How You Can Help:

Each backpack of food costs just $5! Five Dollars. 

In 6 years, the Hearts for Hunger 5K event has raised close to $40,000 = 8,000 backpacks  of food for Vermont children!
